Officer Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver During Investigation: Philadelphia Police

A Philadelphia police officer was injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver during a vehicle investigation in West Philadelphia, authorities announced on Thursday, Feb. 27.

The 50-year-old officer was conducting a stop on the 6800 block of Haverford Avenue in the 19th District at 11:50 a.m. when an unrelated vehicle hit him before fleeing the scene, police said.

The impact also damaged the front door of the police vehicle. The officer was transported to Roxborough Hospital, where he is expected to be treated and released.

Details about the striking vehicle have not been released.
